Bleddyn has been part of Morpheus since the company started in 1997. He has now been working in the Web Environment since around 1995 when he used the first WebServer on OS400 from a company called INET. That was where he got the bug. The nearest he ever got to programming was using Net.Data, which was nice and simple type it run it see what you got. And it just connected right on into the database, you wanted to debug put some aaaaa or bbbb in run it again and see where you get to. Bleddyn has always been an AS/400, iSeries, System i, IBM i bigot since he started working with them back in 1991. It is a great box and its just a shame that IBM seem intent on shutting it down, will we see any more OS400 releases after 610?
Around 1997 IBM also launched WebSphere Commerce, and this is a product that we have stuck with since it first appeared on OS400 with V2.0. And that was one bad release when we tried to run it on our machines here, the folks in the labs had never actually tested on a UK English machine and it would not run! Well things have come a long way since then and it is a great if not sometimes complicated product, we have several major sites running in Commerce The Book People and Jeroboams always want more projects to extend what can be done.
If you want to reach Bleddyn the best way is email bleddyn.williams@morpheus.co.uk, he has a tendency not to answer a mobile!
